Iran has begun work on laying a railway track between Chah-e-Bihar and Zahedan, which Iranian officials says that this track could also be used to transport goods between Russia and India.Managing Director of Iranian Railways Saeed Rasooli said that this railway track will be 628 km long. The administration is preparing to improve the strength of Chabahar seaport from the present 2.5 million tons to 8.5 million tons.He said that this railway corridor could also be used for transporting goods between Russia and India.After connecting Chabahar to Zahedan, this railway track will later be connected to the Zaranji area of Afghanistan, which will facilitate the movement of goods from Afghanistan to Zahedan and then to the port of Chaha Bihar and from there to India.The Chahbahar-Zahedan railway track is being hailed as important for the region.
