However, during winter, they need to ensure that they take care of the parks to ensure they are safe for the people and remain safe and beautiful for other seasons.

1- Inspect and Add Furniture
Furniture is a large part of the park, and there are usually benches in different parts of the park. However, the cold of the winter could compromise the quality and state of the furniture, making it unsuitable for people to use.

Many parks have seasonal items for children and adults to enjoy, like shade protectant canopies. While they can withstand a lot of wind, the snow in the winter could cause damage or even make the break-off.
4- Inspect and Repair Hardware
After removing seasonal items, the city employees should inspect all the winter-friendly equipment they leave in the park to ensure that they are functional and in good shape. Depending on the condition, they could either repair the equipment or replace it.
5- Inspect and Repair Surfacing Before Winter
Before the winter season and heavy snowfall, the city needs to inspect the surfacing of the park to look for any cracks or damage. If the park has pour-in-place rubber surfacing, they should fill in any holes and cracks, no matter how small.
That is because the snow will cause more damage that will be impossible or expensive to repair.

If they notice any place that has pooled water, they should remove it immediately. Leaving it could cause ice formation, which is slippery and dangerous for people in the park.

Lawns are the most vulnerable to damage during winter. Therefore, to avoid extreme damage, the city should close them off and allow people to only walk on the pathways since walking puts a lot of stress on the grass and ground.
8- Prune the Trees
Late winter is the best time to prune and trim trees to encourage growth during spring. It also ensures that the trees do not get any diseases from pruning.
9- Shut Off Any Water Outlets and Drain Water Play Equipment
If there are any water games in the park, the city should have those emptied. They should also clear and drain any pipes and close off water outlets, and this prevents ice formation in the pipes and lines, which could damage them.
